Pride

The bigger the tree is, the harder it falls.

Think about that…

If a seedling falls to the ground, no one hears the rumble of its collapse, but when an enormous tree is taken down at the roots, the thunder of its fall is unmistakable.

A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

Proverbs 29:3 KJV

The Truth & The Lie

According to a 19th century legend, the Truth and the Lie meet one day. The Lie says to the Truth: “It’s a marvellous day today”! The Truth looks up to the skies and sighs, for the day was really beautiful.

They spend a lot of time together, ultimately arriving beside a well. The Lie tells the Truth: “The water is very nice, let’s take a bath together!”
The Truth, once again suspicious, tests the water and discovers that it indeed is very nice. They undress and start bathing. Suddenly, the Lie comes out of the water, puts on the clothes of the Truth and runs away.

The furious Truth comes out of the well and runs everywhere to find the Lie and to get her clothes back. The World, seeing the Truth naked, turns its gaze away, with contempt and rage.
The poor Truth returns to the well and disappears forever, hiding therein, its shame.

Since then, the Lie travels around the world, dressed as the Truth, satisfying the needs of society, because, the World, in any case, harbours no wish at all to meet the naked Truth.

The world famous painting- “The Truth coming out of the well” Jean-Léon Gérôme, 1896. _Tim A Hasney

Chosen

Your life may look ordinary. Others may see in you just a shepherd boy, and yet God may be seeing in you a king.

1 Samuel 16:7 NKJV
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

The Father’s Hand

Whatever comes your way as you journey in the New Year, remember the lesson of this story:

A little boy and his father visited a country store, and upon leaving it, the owner of the store offered the little boy some free sweets… “Get a hand full of sweets,” the merchant said to the boy.

The boy just stood there looking up at his father. The owner repeated himself, “Son get a hand full of sweets… it’s free.” Again the boy did not move, continuing to look up in the face of his father.

Finally his father reached into the candy jar and got a hand full of sweets and gave it to his son.

As they walked back home, the father stopped and asked his son why he did not grab a hand full of the free candy. The boy, with a big smile on his face, looked into the face of his father and said, “Because I know that your HAND is BIGGER than mine.”

So, whatever your needs are in the coming year, place them in the FATHER’S HAND IN HEAVEN, because HIS HAND IS BIGGER THAN YOURS.

Guard My Mouth

Every word carries the weight to bless or curse.

If your tongue is always eager to talk more than it should, ask God to give you control over it.

Set a guard, O Lord , over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips [to keep me from speaking thoughtlessly].
PSALM 141:3 AMP
